His first paintings revealed his inclination for abstraction and surrealism, while his sculptures, conversely, followed realistic tendencies. His artistic creativity led him to move away from conventional styles and to experiment with various techniques in both representative and non-representative painting incorporating different forms of multimedia.
Through the years, Casaravilla's method became progressively more abstract, increasingly applying his unique style of spontaneous improvisation. Although he has undergone representative periods, Casaravilla has solidly established himself as an abstract artist. In addition to participating in multiple collective shows, over the past thirty years, Casaravilla has held several private shows in Montevideo and Washington, DC. In 2001, he participated in the International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Florence, Italy.
